Do I need genetic testing?

A genetic test is not needed to diagnose primary ovarian insufficiency (POI), though it may be offered offered to people with POI

Some people with POI decide to get a genetic test to learn more about their condition. This testing can also help researchers understand more about the genes related to POI. However, genetic testing doesn’t always identify the cause of a person's POI.

If you have POI and are considering genetic testing, it's best to talk to a genetic counselor. They can help explain:
